Snake removal in Blacktown

If you've found a snake at your home or workplace in Blacktown, call 0418 633 474.

Blacktown has been our highest-volume suburb in Western Sydney for years. The mix of older homes with gaps under the slab, new estates with warm retaining walls, long boundary fences, large backyards, sheds, and outdoor pet bowls — combined with the rodent populations that come with major suburban life — means snakes move freely through this part of the city. We attend more callouts here than anywhere else.

We've removed snakes from laundry rooms, garage corners, roof spaces, bathrooms, garden beds, recycling bins, dog runs, and under BBQs. Nothing about your property will be judged. Snakes don't care about tidiness — they care about food, water, warmth, and shelter. Blacktown has plenty of all four.

The species we remove most often

Eastern brown snake. The species we see most. Browns thrive on the wide lawns, concrete driveways, and long fence lines that are typical of Blacktown blocks. They move fast, hide quickly, and almost always follow rodents. Sheds and garage entry points are common sighting spots — that's where mice run. Highly venomous. Step back and call us.

Red-bellied black snake. The second most common species we handle here. They prefer damper areas — around water features, in shady garden beds, behind hot water tanks, anywhere frogs are likely to be. Calmer than browns but still venomous and still serious. Trying to chase or corner one almost always makes the situation worse.

Yellow-faced whip snake. Slender and fast. Often mistaken for baby brown snakes because of their size and speed. Mildly venomous but shy. We see them regularly in newer estates where landscaping is still establishing and snakes can move easily between properties. If you're not sure what you're looking at, call.

Green tree snake. Harmless. They slip into garages and laundry rooms following skinks and frogs. When startled, they flatten their heads and bodies, which makes them look more dangerous than they are. They're not venomous. They still need a trained catcher to safely remove them from inside a home.

Blue-tongued lizard. Not a snake. The most common reason people call us thinking they've seen one. Blue-tongues hiss, puff up, and display a bright blue tongue when threatened, especially when they're half-hidden behind a pot plant or under a sheet of tin. Completely harmless, and excellent for the garden. If you're unsure, call. We don't mind coming out for a blue-tongue.

When snakes turn up in Blacktown

Most sightings happen in the afternoon, between October and May. The common triggers: after mowing, after watering the garden, or after hanging washing out. Snakes aren't hunting people. They're passing through, or moving to a new hiding place because something disturbed the old one.

What happens when you call

You don't get a call centre. You speak to someone who handles snake removal every day and knows the species in your suburb. You describe what you saw, we tell you what to do until we arrive, and the closest available catcher is dispatched. Average arrival time in Blacktown is about 30 minutes, depending on traffic and existing jobs.

Once we're at the property, we work out where the snake was last seen, how it likely moved, and what hiding places it would have chosen. Snakes rarely vanish. They tuck themselves into predictable spots — under garden edging, behind stored timber, in meter boxes, under outdoor furniture, between objects leaning against the house. We check methodically and remove the snake safely.

What we'll tell you while we're there

A few things homeowners in Blacktown always ask:

Did I do something wrong? No. Snakes move through every suburb in Sydney. Your property isn't the reason — it's just on the route.

Are they breeding here? No. Snakes don't breed in suburban backyards. They move constantly and rarely stay long unless food is abundant.

What attracted the snake? Almost always rodents. If you've seen a snake, there's a strong chance you have mice, even if you haven't seen them. The food drives the predator.

After removal, we'll talk you through practical fixes — trimming grass, sealing fence gaps, lifting stored items off the ground, addressing the rodent question. Small changes work. The expensive gadgets advertised online don't.
