Snake Catcher Annangrove

nake in Annangrove - Call 0418 633 474 If you have a snake on your property in Annangrove, call Urban Reptile Removal on 0418 633 474.  The most useful thing you can do before we arrive is keep watching the snake. You don't need to get close, take a photograph or work out what species it is. Stay a safe distance away and watch where it goes. If it disappears under a shed, behind a retaining wall or into vegetation, keep watching that spot. A snake that's been watched is considerably easier to find than one that's been missing for 20 minutes before the snake catcher arrives.

Snake Removal in Annangrove

Annangrove is exactly the sort of suburb where you'd expect to encounter snakes. It's still semi-rural, with acreage properties, horse paddocks, dams, sheds, established gardens and substantial areas of native vegetation. Bushland and creek corridors run through the wider district, including Blue Gum Creek and other remnants of the original vegetation of the Hills.  For snakes, the boundary between bushland and someone's property doesn't mean anything. A dam full of frogs, a shed with mice underneath it, a chicken coop attracting rodents or a pile of timber beside a paddock can all provide food or shelter. That's why snake removal in Annangrove is a regular part of our work through the warmer months.

Snakes We Find Around Annangrove

Red-bellied Black Snakes

The Red-bellied Black Snake is one of the snakes we regularly encounter around Annangrove.  They're particularly associated with water, so properties with dams, creeks, ponds and wet drainage areas are good habitat. Frogs are an important part of their diet. Despite being venomous, Red-bellied Black Snakes are generally shy snakes. Given room, they'll always try to get away from you. Problems occur when people or dogs approach them, or when somebody decides to catch or kill one themselves. If you've got a Red-bellied Black Snake in the yard, leave it alone, keep watching it and call Urban Reptile Removal on 0418 633 474.

Brown Tree Snakes

Brown Tree Snakes can also occur around Annangrove. They're slender, nocturnal snakes that climb extremely well and hunt lizards, birds and small mammals. Sheds, outbuildings and properties with plenty of vegetation can provide suitable habitat. They are mildly venomous but aren't considered a dangerous snake to humans.

Green Tree Snakes

The Green Tree Snake is completely non-venomous. Despite the name, they aren't always green. Individuals can be olive, brownish, blue-grey or occasionally strikingly blue. They're fast, alert snakes and usually disappear quickly once disturbed. If you find one around the garden, there's generally no reason for concern.

Diamond Pythons

Diamond Pythons also occur through the Annangrove district. They're large, heavy-bodied, non-venomous snakes and excellent climbers. Acreage properties can provide plenty of what they're looking for: mature trees, sheds, roof spaces and rodents. A Diamond Python isn't dangerous to people, but a large python in a roof, shed or animal enclosure understandably isn't something everyone wants to deal with. If it needs to be relocated, we can remove it safely.

Golden-crowned Snakes

Golden-crowned Snakes are much smaller and considerably more secretive. They're generally nocturnal and spend much of their time hidden beneath rocks, timber and leaf litter. People often find them while gardening or moving something that's been sitting undisturbed on the ground. They are venomous, but aren't regarded as dangerous to people. They should still be left alone rather than handled.

Lace Monitors

Annangrove also has Lace Monitors, or goannas. They're not snakes, but we regularly receive reptile calls involving them. Large animals can be impressive, particularly when one walks through a backyard or climbs a tree beside the house. They're native wildlife and normally best left alone unless one has become trapped or entered somewhere it shouldn't be.

Why Is There a Snake on My Property?

Usually, there's a reason. For many Annangrove properties, the answer is food and shelter.  Rodents around horse feed, chicken feed, bird aviaries, sheds and stored materials attract predators. Dams and ponds support frogs. Timber, sheets of corrugated iron, machinery, building materials and clutter provide places to hide. You can't make an acreage property snake-proof, and living in Annangrove means living alongside native wildlife. But you can make the area immediately around your house considerably less attractive.

After We Remove the Snake

Our job isn't finished when the snake goes into the bag. We'll have a look around the property and point out anything obvious that may be encouraging snake activity. That might mean:

We don't recommend ultrasonic devices, powders, sprays or so-called snake repellents.  There is no magic product that creates an invisible barrier around your property.  Good property management works far better.
